Shanghai Aviation Electric Co., Ltd. (SAE) was established in 1954,
subordinated to China Aviation Industry Corporation I (AVIC I). It is a specialized company in R&D and production of aviation electric and electronic products. The company is located at No.6629 Zhongchun Road, Qibao Industrial Park, Minhang District, Shanghai. It has more than 700 employees including about 120 (senior) engineers and 100 skilled workers. It covers a total area of 60,000 square meters, of which the building area is 40,000 square meters and green coverage is 20,000 square meters.
SAE mainly supplies aircrafts, spaceships, vessels, tanks, rail trains, etc. with more than 600 kinds of electrical and electronic products under eight categories, such as automatic dimming system, interior & exterior illuminating system, ground proximity warning system, lumped warning system, intelligent distribution system for an aircraft, interior & exterior NVIS-compatible illuminating system, illuminated display and control panel series, engine control system, switch series, fuse series, etc.
The LED illuminant — a cold-light source with high performance and long life, and EL Class two formation light as well as sealed changeover switch and fuse with large capacity in accordance with national military standards, which are researched and developed by the company, have been applied to the aircrafts of major type.
All lights used for the life and work of astronauts in the re-entry and orbital modules, equipment controlling panel and some other products in Shenzhou Ⅴ and Ⅵ spaceships which have been blasted off successfully were produced by the company.
SAE has also been developing and producing civil products as follows: exported high-pressure plunger pump series, general-purpose relay series and tip over switch, as well as anti-collision radar for car backing, motorcycle clutch series, auto-defroster timer series for refrigerators, residual current circuit breaker series, ground fault circuit interrupter and residential distribution box. Some products are made for designated brands of many famous enterprises, such as: Eaton, Siemens, Panasonic, Sharp, etc. and sold to the Occident, Southeast Asia and other regions.
SAE possesses advanced machining equipment, assembly lines and other equipment, such as vertical machining centers with high efficiency and precision, automatic paint spraying machine and laser process equipment which assure the product processing and assembling quality. The company has established high-class optical measuring center, environmental test center for products, material test center and measuring room equipped with detecting and testing equipment such as advanced coordinate measuring machine, automated spectroradiometric measurement system, direct-reading spectrometer, infrared spectrometer, high & low temperature and low pressure test chamber, sand and dust chamber, rain test chamber, random vibration test equipment, etc.
